As soon as the bass kicks in on Watch The Birds Fly, you’re transported to a world of possibilities. The dusty DX7 line conjures up images of flying high above the clouds, taking in the beauty of the world from a bird’s eye view. It’s a track that makes you feel weightless and free, like anything is possible.
The second track Outside is a playful house stomper with a round rolling deep bassline that commands your attention from the first second. The fun and frolicsome synth melody will put a smile on your face, but it’s the driving beat that will keep your feet moving.
The final track is a peaceful and mellow song that features a dialogue between a moaning bass, a guitar-like synth arpeggio, and an electric piano. The watery sound of the synth line contrasts with the dry sound of the bass, creating a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The electric piano provides a degree of warmth and richness to the track, making it ideal for listening to in moments of peace and calm. Overall, the track is a perfect way to close out the EP, with its chilled vibe and tranquil mood.
The soothing sounds of flowing water are captured in the first two tracks on Benfay’s new EP, Floating Down. The Aare river runs though his hometown and has always had an immense impact on him- he credits it for some good times with friends when they were cooling off.
Both tracks are deep and dubby, with chords that create a sense of space and bass that keeps you moving. It’s the perfect music for a swim, whether you’re in the river or in your own mind. Benfay has captured the sensation of floating downstream, and it’s sure to transport you to another place.
The third track is dense and ambient, with a feeling like you’re on thin ice. It’s cold and watery, with a sense of being lost and alone. There’s a feeling of hopelessness, but also a sense of beauty in the solitude.
16° EP has a very metropolitan touch to it. The cold city lies behind the fence and Apogee is what you would hear if floating through concrete space, with no place sounding quite like this track does coming from anywhere non-specific but still capturing that feeling of being lost.
What is it about being lost in a familiar town that makes you feel like someone else for just one day? When everything shines with an unfamiliar light, looking down from the bridge onto those railway tracks.
New Voice is a track that looks to the future with a sad feeling. It’s about the difficulties our children will face in a world that seems to be getting harder and harder. But despite all the negative possibilities, the track ends on a note of hope. It reminded me that our children are strong and capable, and that they will find a way to overcome the challenges they face. Hard Times is a beautiful and moving track that perfectly captures the mix of sadness and hope that I feel when I think about the future of our children.
Landschaft Im Nebel
The sun was shining through the fog, and the tree looked like a shadow. The mountain was watching the scenery, and I felt like I was in a dream. I could see the music “Landschaft Im Nebel”, and I knew that my friend was with me. I will never forget the times we shared together, and I will always cherish our friendship. Thank you for being a part of my life, and I hope you are doing well where you are. I know we will meet again one time on the dance-floor of eternity, but until then, please know that you are always in my thoughts.
